                Episode Ten
      "No baby...no..no Am not. Look,herbal drugs might take three to six months to work. We cant wait that long baby. You know my mum already. Pls understand.Artificial insemination might take just a few weeks. You will get pregnant,and even tho I might not be da biological father of the baby, am prepared to take full responsibility of him or her. And as long as he or she came from your womb, I'll be glad and honoured to call him or her my child. Pls baby. Do this for me. I beg you" Kwame pleaded.
      Ruby starred at him confused for a while and said "I can't bare another man's child for you. Who knows his lifestyle,or how he may look like. The baby might not even look like you when he or she is born and people might suspect me of sleeping around with other men". "Forget what people will think baby...look...look...this relationship is about me and you,not them...Not others." Kwame replied. "Not others?Are you for real right now?Can you hear yourself speak?....talking about others.Now tell me,who are you actually doing this for?Your mum or us?...And don't forget the word others,includes your mum" Ruby said. "Come on baby,you know am doing this for us....for you in particular" Kwame replied. "FOR ME?!!" Ruby screamed. "Why me in particular?Because you are scared of your mum right?You are scared of what she might come here and do to me whiles you sit around like the coward that you are right?" Ruby continued.
     "RU!!!" Kwame screamed,before calmly continuing "Ruby baby,am not scared of what she will do to you. Am scared of what her actions will make you do....Not do per say but what her actions will make you say and reveal" Kwame said. "What?You are scared I might tell her about your sperm count problem?" Ruby asked. "No...well not intentionally. But you will...you...you know how provoking ma mum's insults are. And that...That might push you to say something you are not suppose to say.Something like my problem baby." Kwame replied.
     Ruby turned away worried but didn't leave the room. "Please Ruby,do this for me. I beg you. You will be saving me from the biggest shame ever in ma family's history.I beg you baby" Kwame said,trying to touch Ruby who quickly pulled away. "Ok..ok....I get it.What do you want?My house?...Tell me baby. If it is this house you want before you will do that for me,then it's all yours. I will call up ma lawyers tomorrow and everything concerning this house,legally, will bare your name" Kwame continued. Ruby turned towards him,looked straight into his eyes and replied "Are you serious. I can't do that. This house isn't yours or mine....it is ours. What is yours or mine became ours when we vowed to each other to love and be together for ever. Baby,for better or worst I will stick by you.Through thick or thin I'll be by your side.. But...but...this...this sperm thing....I don't know....but I will go along with it. Just once and that's all. But promise me...promise me that you will follow me to one of the best herbal clinics in town for treatment after I do this...promise me baby...promise me now". Kwame tried to smile to show his appreciation for Ruby's acceptance to go along with the insemination but he just couldn't. With one look at Ruby he promised to do whatever she wanted him to do after the insemination.
     They hugged each other and stayed in that position for a while,before Ruby pulled away and left the room.Minutes later, Kwame made a call to his doctor friend ,who invited him and Ruby to come to the clinic to describe the type of donor they needed.
