The Donor Episode Twenty Nine

             Episode Twenty Nine
      "Dad,its not what you and mum might be thinking. The truth is....is a few months after my engagement to Kwame. We couldn't have kids and his mum was always nagging about it. So...so we went for a test and Kwame was the one with a problem. His sperm count was extremely low. So...we...we.." Ruby stammered. "YOU WHAT YOUNG LADY?" Mr Danso yelled. "We...we decided to get a donor from a sperm bank. And coincidentally it turned out to be Rodney". Ruby continued. "Oh my" Ruby's mum said in a low tone. "I can't believe this" Mr Danso whispered,with a disappointed look on his face. "Mr man,what do you have to say?how many  donations did you make?" Mr Danso asked Rodney. With his gaze on Ruby,Rodney replied "Just one. If you are wondering if I have other kids somewhere,the answer is no. I made only one donation. So I'd be able to pay my fees after I spent it when my girlfriend way back in school  deceived me about being pregnant". "What sort of mess is this?" Mr Danso said as he turned away and placed his right arm on his forehead. Rodney slowly squatted in front of Jessy,starred into her eyes,smiled at her and hugged her tight. "My dad was right,you have my mum's eyes. I now know why" Rodney cried.
       "I love you Rodney...daddy" Jessy smiled. "I love you too,so so much my little princess" Rodney cried. He slowly stood to his feet,lifted Jessy up in his arms and asked Ruby "How did you know?". "That Maxwell Ankrah was actually you? Thank God you wrote your real number on the form that day" Ruby replied,with a straight face. "So..so What now?" Rodney asked. "Do you want legal rights over her?" Ruby asked. "Would you do that for me?" Rodney asked. "Not for you,for her" Ruby replied. "Ok...ok,not for me. For our daughter" Rodney said. "Yes I will. You signed Jessy over to me when she was just...just a sperm cell in your semen. Well you signed her over to both Kwame and I. But I can have Kwame's rights taking and replaced with yours. You are her real dad after all" Ruby replied. "You will?...You can?" Rodney smiled. "Yeah. I owe it to Jessy" Ruby replied. "What if Kwame refuses to sign her over to me?" Rodney asked. "Leave that to me" Ruby replied. Mr Danso and his wife pulled Rodney aside and then asked him about his life,relationship and the kind of friendship between him and their daughter. They then moved on to ask him if finding out Jessy was his daughter would change his friendship with Ruby for the best. "Sir,I can't tell" Was all Rodney called say. Ruby's mum sighed and replied "I always wished my daughter would have kids with a man she loved,who loves her too". "Am sorry Maa" Rodney said. "Dont worry young man,its not her fault. I was against her marriage to that idiot Kwame. But you know women. She told me to allow her daughter marry the guy of her dreams and now see all this mess she has gotten into. And sadly has involved us all in it" Mr Danso replied.
       Rodney then bidded Ruby's family goodbye as he was already late for work,kissed his daughter on her forehead and whispered into her ears "Daddy has got to go to work dear. But don't worry,I'll be back for you, so we could spend some time together. And do me a favour yea. Take care of mummy". Jessy smiled at him and then waved at him as he left. Ruby called Kwame and asked to see him in the hospital. She then called her lawyers and informed them about her plans to take away Kwame's fatherly rights and give it to her daughter's biological father. She then asked them to make papers and documents for such legal actions. So both Kwame and Rodney,including herself would sign. Her lawyers then jumped to it and begun working on it.
       Rodney got to his office late,just to see his dad seated in his chair. "Looks like my classic collections really did a number on you huh?" Mr Ankrah asked. Rodney smiled and said "Dad....I have a confession and a news for you...embrace yourself for it". "Am not embracing myself for anything boy,that confession better be forgivable and that news better be good" Mr Ankrah replied.
