SCHOOL TEACHER BEATS MANNY PACQUIAO

What a shock it has been after Brisbane former school teacher Jeff Horn defeated boxing legend Manny Pacquiao in a unanimous decision to win the WBO welterweight title. Even though Horn entered the fight as a complete underdog at +425 against the only eight-division champion in the sport’s history, Jeff Horn surprised most boxing fans by making it through all 12 rounds against Pacquiao  and then moved further to surprising everyone a few minutes later by being declared the winner of the fight. Jeff Horn laid few successful punches than his top dog opponent, as Horn landed 93 to Pacquiao’s 183, but the judges seemed to have rewarded him for the aggressiveness he showed from the beginning of the first round. Horn fought hard as he tried countless times to land heavy punches on Pacquiao throughout the match. Despite that, Horn was at the risk of being declared the loser after a round nine that prompted the referee to tell the Ausie's corner that he was prepared to stop the fight if Horn didn’t show him something in the next round. Pacquiao nearly knocked Horn out in round 9 before the bell rang as he kept trying to put the ausie down in that round.
      With a bloody face, Horn insisted on going on with the fight. His momentum and energy seemed to have resurfaced from the tenth to the final round as he was back to trying to land successful heavy blows on Pacquiao’s bleeding forehead, which was busted open twice in the match due to a head to head contact. Pacquiao's flare in the 9th round seemed to have died out in the 10th round as he didn't show much strength and power like he had done in the round before. And despite Horn's near defeat, he had earned his place in the boxing world even if he didn't win. It was just like the Rocky movie, in which Sylvester Stallone’s character(Rocky Balboa) gave it his all in an unexpected bout against the champion Apollo Creed. But then, in Horn’s real life story, he was announced as the surprise winner, instantly shooting Him into the boxing stratosphere. He may not be a worldwide superstar yet, but this bout has made him popular enough and will fetch him a mouth watering figure to enjoy for longtime. Many felt all the rounds were clearly won by the Filipino superstar. And now without a doubt many will argue and debate on it. Horn’s camp and the many new fans he earned on Sunday won’t be bothered by that. After he was declared the winner, Horn challenged Floyd Mayweather Jr. to a fight and said he’d welcome a rematch with Pacquiao, too.
