The Donor Episode Three

       "No am not. If I don’t get a receipt eh, trust me…i…I will do something u will never forget” Rodney warned. “Are u threatening me baby?” Asabea asked. “Oh naaa, its just a friendly warning in case you and your sis are trying to dupe me” Rodney replied. “You know I would never do a thing like that to you baby” Asabea said. Rodney did not wait for her to step on to her next sentence before hanging up on her. He was confused on whether to send her the money or not. He thought of the possibility of this being a scam but he wasn’t prepared to take any risks.
       He then concluded on sending her the money. He quickly pulled out the amount Asabea asked for, rushed to the nearest mobile money vendor and wired the money to Asabea. Asabea texted him to notify him about her successful withdrawal of the money. 3 hours later, whiles Rodney was on his way to campus, he got a text from Asabea saying she had gone through with the abortion and it was successful.
          Good news it was, but Rodney couldn’t smile or rejoice because his next test was how he was going to get that money he deducted from his fees before the registration period is closed. Slowly he drowned in his thoughts until he arrived on campus. He quickly rushed to one of his friend's named Dan, to see if he could help him out financially.
     On the side of Ruby, she was busy enjoying her engaged life as her husband arrived from the States to visit. Everything seemed to be moving on perfect with them months into their engagement until one day, after Kwame’s mum had arrived from the village, she called a meeting between her son and Ruby, purposely to find out why after months of being engaged, there has not been any news of Ruby being pregnant yet. “Come on mum, its been roughly six months since we got engaged. And u know I live overseas. So u need to give us some time. Trust me, very soon u will hear the cry of a baby in this house.” Kwame smiled. “What are u saying my son? Didn’t u people sleep together the night of your engagement and nights after before u left.” Kwame’s mum asked, curiously. “Yes we did maa, but…”Kwame tried to explain before his mum snapped in. “But what my son. When I heard the news that u were going to be engaged to a school girl I even thought u had impregnated her and for that reason, you wanted to engage her.Kwame am growing old oo. Look, am not asking for much from u my son, all I need is a grandchild. Let me hold and bath my grandchild before I die” Kwame’s mum said.
     “Asiuu, please give us some time to work things out and I promise u will soon hear the cry of a baby in this house please” Ruby begged. “Ayoo, I give u people just two months. If u don’t get pregnant, me kan bosom aa orwor me krom, I will drive u out of my son’s house” Kwame’s mum warned angrily, before walking out on his son and his wife. After she left, Kwame couldn’t look his wife in her eyes. He felt ashamed at his mum’s behavior. He knew how his mum acted towards Ruby was a clear act of illiteracy in the eyes of Ruby. Ruby without saying a word to her husband, left his presence as well.
      Meanwhile, on Rodney’s side, his friend Dan was not able to get the whole amount he needed for him. All he could get was Gh₵ 250. “Oh man, I beg find something small top am up give me eh” Rodney begged. “I wish I could help u out oo man. But all I have on me right now is this man. I even need it for some run downs but because u are in a jam that is why am giving it to u man” Dan replied. Rodney sighed and said “Well I can’t say u haven’t helped me man. At least what u have giving me now has lessened my burden man. Thanks”. “Anything for a brother ma guy” Dan smiled, before seeing Rodney off. Immediately Rodney left Dan’s place, he moved straight to another friend named Kobby's hostel to see if he could help him out with da remaining sum.There he found Kobby and narrated everything to him.
