The Donor Episode Sixteen

             Episode Sixteen
        The little girl covered her face with her hands as she smiled to what Rodney had just said. "Oh sorry,hehehe. Sorry if am making you blush. By the way am Rodney. You, little princess, can call me Rod....what is your name?" Rodney smiled. Still with her hands on her face she replied "Jessica". "Uuhh Jessica..Jessy,nice nice nice.Nice name for a young lady as yourself. You know what,I think I will name my first female child that" Rodney said. "Now, bring down your hands and let me see your gorgeous face" Rodney smiled,gently pulling Jessica's hands down. "Cute little girl" He smiled. "Anyway where is your mum?" Rodney continued. Jessica,with her left hands thumb in her mouth pointed to Ruby behind the counter with her other hand. Just then Rodney's eyes fell on Ruby and he realised that she was not just a cashier at the bank but also the mother of the little girl He had just grown fond of,minutes after meeting her.
        "That's your mum?" Rodney whispered. "Yep" Jessica replied,shyingly. Rodney focused his gaze on Ruby,whiles she was busy checking an amount of money behind her desk. He thought of waiting for the other cashiers to be done with attending to their customers,but he was in a hurry and didn't have the patience to sit waiting for his turn. So slowly he walked towards the counter and greeted Ruby. "Hi...Good evening" Rodney greeted. "Goodevening sir" Ruby said,raising her head to attend to her customer just to see Rodney's face. Rodney quickly faked a smile and said "I...I...kind of....want to withdraw an amount of money". "Kind of?" Ruby asked. "Nooo...no I want to withdraw an amount of money." Rodney replied. "Now you speaking sir. Please give me a valid ID card and then the cheque. And then take a sit. I'll be done in no time." Ruby said. Rodney sloppily but quickly handed the cheque and his ID over to Ruby. Ruby could tell he was nervous,and then smiled at him. He smiled back and sat beside Jessica whiles he waited for Ruby to be done.
     After Ruby was done attending to him,he coughed intentionally and said to her "So...are we going to act like total strangers to each other?". "Well...after the punch I took from you that day,I've lost my memory so I don't know who you are" Ruby replied. "Come on Ruby,I've apologized for that countless times since that day. It's been over twelve years now and you still acting like we fought yesterday" Rodney said. "You were forced to apologize,if I remember correctly" Ruby replied. "That was then....I was mad at you Ruby...but am not anymore. Am sorry. Look,I know you are busy now and all,but how about I wait for you yea,and take you and your lovely daughter out for something to eat,so I'd be able to apologize to you properly" Rodney said. "I....I don't think so" Ruby replied. "Oh...You want me to go down on my knees and beg?I will...I gladly will" Rodney said,whiles slowly moving down to go on his knees when Ruby stopped him. "Wow wow please don't. You are still that crazy boy I see" Ruby smiled. "Wow,I finally got you to smile....so will you go with me?" Rodney asked,feeling a bit confident now. "Sure I will. Just give me half an hour. I'll be done" Ruby replied. "Thanks...thanks,that means a lot to me" Rodney smiled before sitting close to Jessica.
       Rodney got into a long pleasant convo with Jessica until Ruby was done. Rodney being a gentleman asked for her permission to hold her bag for her. But she told him she will hold it herself. They got out and Ruby asked if Rodney will drive her back to come for her car. Which he agreed to. They got to a nice restaurant where they made their orders and as they waited for their foods to be served Rodney begged for Ruby's forgiveness. She played the pride game on him for a while,but finally forgave him before the food was served. Ruby,kind of enjoyed how great Rodney was relating with her daughter and kind of wished it was Kwame sitted there doing that with Jessica. She missed him a lot now more than ever.
